The parliamentary standing committee on public administration ministry made the recommendation in a meeting on Wednesday, the Parliament Secretariat said in a media release. It also recommended raising the retirement age limit for public servants to 65 years from the current 59.
The other recommendations included one to dissolve the Non-government Teachers’ Registration and Certification Authority or NTRCA and appointment of teachers to private institutions through their own managing committees instead.
Since the government raised the age limit for retirement by two years to 59 in 2011, the jobseekers have been demanding the age limit to enter government jobs be also raised.
They argue that the private banks and other companies are not appointing someone above 30 years in age following the government rule, limiting the scope for them to get employed.
The government has on several occasions said it has no plan to raise the age limit to enter public jobs.
