Jaitya party chairman HM Ershad is likely to take oath as an MP of the 11th parliament today.
Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury may administer the oath in parliament at 12:30 pm, said Ershad’s deputy press secretary Delwar Jalali.
Ershad was elected MP from Rangpur-3 seat in the December-30 election.
Earlier in the day, Jatiya Party cochairman GM Quader at a press conference said they will play the role of the main opposition for the smooth functioning of parliament while their party chairman HM Ershad will act as the Leader of the Opposition.
The Jatiya Party leader said Ershad’s health condition is now good, and he will take oath as an MP very soon after taking a schedule of the Speaker of parliament.
Jatiya Party, which joined the election as the key partner of the Awami League-Grand Alliance, bagged 22 seats in the election.
