Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Friday said anti-liberation forces killed the intellectuals on December 14, 1971 to make the emerging Bangladesh intellectually cripple.She paid tributes to the martyred intellectuals at Shaheed Minar premises in her constituency, Pirganj.
“Bangladesh is the culmination of 23 years of struggle of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The people fought for liberation under his leadership, inspired by the historic March 7 speech, and achieved independence,” she said.
“We have to inform the young generation about the sacrifice of the martyred intellectuals and the true history of the Liberation War,” the speaker said.
She urged the young generation to be imbued with the spirit of Liberation War and take the country forward.
