Speedster Taskin Ahmed said that Bangladesh still have chances of reaching the semifinals of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. The young paceman believes that the Tigers will seize their berth in the semifinals by playing their better brand of cricket in the mega-event.
“Bangladesh so far played four matches in the World Cup, where they won a match against South Africa and split points with Sri Lanka in their fourth fixture. It’d be better for them if they could play the match and achieve the full point by winning it,” said Taskin Ahmed.
“We have five more games ahead. In this case, the next match against West Indies is important for us to win. If we could win the match, then the calculation will be counted in different way,” Taskin told media yesterday at the national academy of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
“But I think, we still have chances of reaching the semifinals and will grab place of the last four by playing our best of cricket,” he added.
Taskin is not in the Bangladesh World Cup squad but he is in discussion of all when the pacers are not doing up to the scrape on English condition. They are feeling the lack of a speed fast bowler.
Due to injury, the 22-year-old paceman did not get his place in the Bangladesh squad. He regrets for it. But not sitting idle, he is honing his skills and techniques for the next international assignment.
Taskin is preparing himself for the upcoming A team series against Afghanistan ’A’ team at home turf. He wants to provide his best if he gets opportunity for playing.
Bangladesh ’A’ team has a series against Afghanistan ’A’ team in July. He is working hard to get him back in his rhythm and best form of bowling in the forthcoming games of the home series.
The crunch World Cup match against Sri Lanka has been finished due to the rains. The Tigers had to pacify with sharing of points that has been a bigger loss for them because they had an initial plan to tame some of the teams where Sri Lanka were among it.
But Taskin said that this shared point might be boon for the Tigers on way to their semifinals.
He firmly believes that all the players will get back in rhythm and best form of the World Cup in the remaining matches and place them in the semifinals by playing their better brand of cricket.
