Suprobhat Paribahan owner Noni Gopal today confessed his involvement in the incident where one of his buses crushed Bangladesh University of Professionals student Abrar Ahmed Chowdhury on March 19.
Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Sadbir Yasir Ahsan Chowdhury recorded his statement under section 164 as investigation officer and detective branch (DB) inspector Qazi Shariful Islam produced him before court and pleaded to record his statement.
After recording the statement, the court sent Noni Gopal to jail.
A Dhaka court on April 5 put Noni Gopal on three days remand in the case filed in this regard. DB arrested Sarker on the evening of April 4 from capital"s Mugda area.
Earlier on April 2, Suprobhat Paribahan conductor Yasin Arafat and helper Ibrahim made confessional statements before the courts of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrates Sadbir Yasir Ahasn Chowdhury and Sorafujjaman Ansari respectively. On March 28, driver Sirajul Islam gave statement under section 164 before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sadbir Yasir Ahasn Chowdhury.
Abrar was run over by Suprobhat Paribahan bus on the morning of March 19, as he was trying to cross the road.
It was learned later that the same bus earlier on that morning had struck another pedestrian, leaving her seriously injured and crushed Abrar as it was trying to flee the scene after the first incident.
Abrar"s father Brigadier General (retd) Arif Ahammed Chowdhury filed a case against the driver, his helper, conductor and owner of the bus with Gulshan Police Station.
