Popular theatre troupe Nagorik Natyangan and Savar-based theatre troupe Jagoroni Theatre will stage their respective plays today at two different venues of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital. DhakaLive has news that Nagorik will stage its production ‘Gahar Badshah O Banesa Poree’ at the National Theatre Hall at 7pm, while Jagoroni Theatre’s ‘Ami O Shyama’ will be staged at the Studio Theatre Hall at the same time.
Based on a folk story, Gahar Badshah O Banesa Poree is the 20th production of the troupe, and through the play, actress Hridi Haque made her debut as a director. The story of the play revolves around the Bishingsha Badshah, who ventures into the forest named Gilamight for hunting. After accidentally killing a human being, he is cursed by the mother. The story moves forward from here.
The role of Gahar will be played by two youngsters named Asib Chowdhury and Jewel Johur, while director of the play Hridi Haque will play the role of Banesa Poree.
On the other hand, scripted and directed by Aniket Paul, Ami O Shyama wraps around the theme of sacrifice. Reading the life story of world-famous artist Albrecht Dure of Germany of the 15th century, Amor, a young student, feels interested in studying fine arts. Eventually, Amor got introduced with Shyama, daughter of Anil Uncle when Amor was studying in Fine Arts with that very belief in mind.
The cast of the play includes Soron Saha, Munira Oboni, Shazib Ghosh, Baharul Islam, Rafiqul Islam, Juliet Supria, Yeasin Shamim, Arif khan and others.
