Theatre, one of the most popular theatre troupes in the country, will stage their much-acclaimed play ‘Meraj Fokirer Ma’ today evening at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital. The play will be staged as a part of the ongoing eight day-long drama festival titled ‘Syed Badruddin Hossain Smriti Natya Utsab’.
On the occasion of the 96th birth anniversary of lifetime president of Padatik Natya Sangsad Syed Badruddin Hossain, Padatik Natya Sangsad has organised the festival, which is being held at three theatre halls of BSA simultaneously.
Written and directed by late noted theatre icon Abdullah Al Mamun, "Meraj Fokirer Ma" poses a few very important question of life: What is more important—relationship or religion? Should a son leave his mother if his views regarding religion differ from that of hers? In fact, through this satirical play, the playwright tries to bring out the human values and depict certain characters, who oppress people in the name of religion.
Besides, host troupe Padatik Natya Sangsad will bring their acclaimed production "Beder Meye" at the Experimental Theatre Hall of BSA, while Niravan Theatre (Manikganj) will stage its play "Jui Malar Soi Mala" - a well-known folk ballad from "Purbabanga Geetika" at the Studio Theatre Hall of BSA today.
