The prestigious ‘Kali O Kalam Tarun Kabi O Lekhak Purushkar 2018’ (Kali O Kalam Young Poet and Writer Award) will be conferred at a ceremony at the main auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum in the capital on Tuesday.
Presided over by National Professor Anisuzzaman, poet and researcher Professor Kaisar Haque will attend the event as guest of honour, while eminent writer-poet Anisul Haque will be present as special guest.
Four young writers and poets have been selected for ’Kali O Kalam Tarun Kabi O Lekhak Purushkar’ this year.
Nahida Nahid and Harun Pasha will be awarded jointly in the fiction category. Nahida Nahid will get the award for her book ’Juthchari Adharer Golpo’, while Harun Pasha will receive the award for his book ’Tista’.
In the Liberation War-related research category, Arafat Tanim will get the award for his book ’Ekattorer Ramzan: Gono Hotya O Nirjaton’, while Shahadat Rumon will get the award for his book ’Humayun Ahmed-er Chalachitra: Chirayita Roshbodh’ in the category of essay-play-research. No award will be given in the children’s literature category for the year 2018.
Each of the award winners will receive a crest, a certificate and prize money worth one lakh taka in recognition of their brilliant works.
The award ceremony will be followed by a sarod and poetry jugalbandi. Hassan Arif will recite poems and Pandit Tejendra Narayan Majumdar will play the sarod at the event.
Kali O Kalam, a monthly magazine for art, culture and literature, has been awarding the young talented writers and poets since 2008.
