Celebrating the International Dance Day, Bangladesh Nritya Shilpi Shangstha (BNSS), in association with Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), organised a weeklong programme on the premises of BSA in Segun Bagicha of the capital.
Earlier on April 23, BSA director General Liaquat Ali Lucky and dance guru Amanul Haque inaugurated the weeklong event.
As a part of the celebration of International Dance Day that falls on April 29 (today), a daylong programme has been chalked out featuring seminar, rally, discussion, dance show and honouring veteran dance artists.
The programme will begin today morning at 8am by a Mangal dance performance. An award ceremony followed by a cultural event will be held later. A dance artiste will be bestowed with the Nritya Gurumata Rahijha Khanam Jhunu Memorial Award. Bangladesh Dance Artistes" Association has introduced the award last year after the name of late eminent dance artiste Rahijha Khanam Jhunu who died on November 27 in 2017.
State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid will attend the award ceremony as chief guest.
