The suspected five members of an international drug peddling gang were detained on Monday in a raid in Airport Police Station area in the city, said a press release of the battalion on Tuesday.
The arrestee are Fatema Inam Tania, 26, daughter of Imama Hossain at Koadalpur in Shariyatpur, Afsana Mimi, 23, daughter of Md Ashrafullah at Gachhuya of Sandwip in Chattagram, Salma Sultana, 26, daughter of Salam Mia at Sarupai of Manikganj, Sheikh Mohammad Badhan, 28, son of Tafajjal Sheikh in Bogura Sadar and Ruhul Amin, 29, son of Md Nachhir at Charbhaga in Shariyatpur.
On December 31, Sri Lankan Police seized 272 kilograms of heroin and five kilograms of cocaine during a special operation at a housing complex in Templers Road at Colombo’s Mount Lavinia. The haul is worth Tk 1.52 billion.
