Big-spending Bashundhara Kings reached the semi-finals of the Independence Cup when they beat Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society 3-2 on penalties in the quarter-final at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday.

The match went into tie-breaker after the stipulated 90 minutes and 30 minutes of extra-time ended in 2-2 goals.
Baktyer Dushobakov, Nasir Uddin Chowdhury and Deniel Colinders converted for Kings in tie-breaker while Faysal Ahmed and Didarul Alam hit the target for Rahmatganj.
Earlier in the match, Kings came from behind twice to take the game into extra-time.
Midfielder Jamal Hossain gave Rahmatganj the lead in the 25th minute by sending the ball home from inside the box.
Costa Rican World Cupper Deniel Colinders restored the parity for Kings with a 66th minute strike.
After receiving a pass from midfielder Nyeem Uddin, Colinders dribbled past two defenders before placing the ball into the net with his right foot.
Faysal put Rahmatganj 2-1 ahead five minutes later with a fine solo effort. After gliding past three players, Faysal smashed the ball past Kings’ keeper Anisur Rahman Zico from top left corner of the box.
When it seemed it was all over Kings, their Kirgiz midfielder Baktyer Dushobakov stunned Rahmatganjby heading the ball home deep into stoppage time.
Kings will take in Dhaka Abahani in the second semi-final on December 20 while Brothers Union and Sheik Russell Krira Chakra will face each other in the first semi-final on December 19.
