Bangladesh Under-23 football team ended their campaign in the AFC Under-23 Championship qualifying round with 2-0 win over Sri Lanka in their final Group B match in Bahrain on Tuesday.
Biplu Ahmed and Tutul Hossain Badsha scored respectively in fifth and 18th minute of the first half to help Bangladesh end the competition on a high at the nearly-packed Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Manama.
Bangladesh lost their opening two matches by identical 0-1 margin respectively against hosts Bahrain and Palestine.
With the loss, Sri Lanka ended the competition by receiving 20 goals in three matches as both Bahrain and Palestine defeated them by identical 9-0 margin.
A total of 44 teams, split into 11 groups are taking part in the AFC Under-23 qualifiers.
The group champions and four best runners-up teams alongside hosts Thailand will take part in the 16-team final round of the meet, scheduled in January next year.
The top three teams will qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
