In a letter sent to election commission secretary Helaluddin Ahmed on Tuesday, BNP has accused him and three other officials of instigating the party activists and implicating them three cases. They also threatened to take legal measures against the officials if the government does not take measures against them.

The other accused are a joint secretary, DMP commissioner and a deputy commissioner of Motijheel police station.

A BNP delegation led by joint secretary general Moazzem Hossain Alal handed over the letter signed by party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday afternoon.

The letter said, the commission instigated an untoward situation in front of the partys central office and implicated the party leaders in name of enforcing electoral code of conduct.

EC turned a deaf ear when Awami League nomination seekers created public sufferings by blocking roads while collecting nomination papers from 9-12 November. Two AL men were killed in infighting that time but EC did not take any action against AL, accused the letter.

On the other hand, EC termed the gathering of BNP supporters as violation of electoral code of conduct when the party started selling nomination form to the aspirants. EC then asked Dhaka Metropolitan Police to take measure against BNP, the letter added.

Police clashed with BNP men on 13 November. So far three cases were filed in the incident implicating 472 BNP activists, arresting 70 and putting 38 on remand.
