A day after their announcement to join the general election, five senior BNP leaders, sat for a meeting with party chairperson Khaleda Zia at Nazimuddin Road old central jail on Monday afternoon, reports UNB.
Led by party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, partys five standing committee members including Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Moudud Ahmed, Jamiruddin Sircar and Mirza Abbas entered the jail around 2:40pm to meet the BNP chief, said Khaledas media wing member Sayrul Kabir Khan.
Party insiders said the senior leaders will discuss various issues relating to election with Khaleda and seek her guideline about seat sharing with the partys two alliances and giving nomination to party aspirants.
They will also seek her opinion about BNPs decision on joining the polls and future course of action.
On 8 February last, a special court in Dhaka sentenced Khaleda to five years imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
Khaleda, a 73-year-old former prime minister, was taken to the old central jail minutes after the verdict had been delivered.
