Six suspected members of a gang who swindled people with promises of jobs were arrested on Tuesday night from Mirpur. The arrestees were identified as - Nurul Haque, 57, Sheikh Alam, 43, Firoz Alam, 57, Mosharraf Hosen, 54, Masud Rana, 43, and Renu Mia alias Roni, 38, RAB said.
RAB also recovered two rank badges of assistant commissioner (customs), 20 visiting cards of various organisations and eight mobile phones, UNB reports.
Commanding Officer of RAB-4 Chowdhury Manzurul Kabir said the gang targeted educated unemployed youths.
"They took money with promises of providing jobs in the customs department," he said.
Kabir said they started investigating after getting complaint from one of the victims, who claimed that the fraudsters took Tk 4.8 lakh from him to provide job and demanded Tk 50,000 more from him later.
RAB-4 members raided at Tolarbagh on Tuesday night and detained six members of the gang, the CO said.
