A four-day International Plastic Fair (IPF) will begin in the city on January 17 (Thursday), reports UNB. Bangladesh Plastic Goods Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BPGMEA) in association with its co-organiser Yorkers Trade & Marketing Co.
Ltd is organising the 14th edition of the expo at the International Convention City, Bashundhara to showcase the local and international plastic products.
Industries Minister Nurul Mazid Mahmud Humayun will inaugurate the expo, said BPGMEA President Jashim Uddin while speaking at a press conference at the organisations headquarters in the city on Monday.
He said a good number of companies from 19 countries across the world will participate in the fair.
Jashim Uddin said in the last two decades, plastic industry has become an important industrial sector in Bangladesh.
The growth of the plastic industry has a multiplying effect on numerous important sectors of the economy while the government has also given priority to this sector.
“IPF, the only and most professional exhibition, is now one of the biggest events among the South East Asian nations,” he said, adding that the expo helps increase plastic sector investment, market size and exports nationally and globally.
It also increases plastic use, the BPGMEA President said. “We hope in the near future, this sector will contribute much to the national exchequer through its outstanding performances.”
He claimed that the 13th edition of the International Plastic Fair was extremely successful as it attracted huge local and foreign visitors. “We hope the IPF 2019 will play a good role in promoting our export and be able to obtain many spot orders along with the local sales,” he said.
Other leaders of BPGMEA, including its Vice-presidents Gias Uddin and Iqbal Ahmed, were present at the press conference.
