The government on Wednesday announced names of 21 eminent citizens who will receive the prestigious Ekushey Padak 2019.
They are — Halima Khatun (posthumous), Golam Arif Tipu and Monwara Islam for language movement, Subir Nandi, Azam Khan ( posthumous) and Khairul Anam Shakil for music, Lucky Inam, Subarna Mustafa and Liakat Ali Lucky for acting, Sayeeda Khanam for photography, Jamal Uddin Ahmed for fine arts, Kshitish Chandra Baishya for liberation war, Bishwajt Ghosh and Mahbubul Huq for research, Pranab Kumar Barua for education, Rizia Rahman, Imdadul Huq Milan, Asim Saha, Anwara Syed Huq, Mainul Ahsan Saber and Harishankar Jaldas for language and literature.
Ekushey Padak is the second-highest civilian award in Bangladesh.
Each recipient will get a gold medal, a certificate, and a cheque of Tk two lakh.
Prime minister Sheikh Hasina will hand over the Ekushey Padak to the awardees.
