Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the national carrier, is being slow in taking advantage of the aviation market growth. “What usually happens is that home airlines take 40 to 50 per cent of the passengers, while the rest of the passengers use foreign airlines. The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) will show no leniency to Grameenphone (GP) in realising dues amounting to Tk. 12,579.95 crore from the operator. BTRC chairman Jahirul Haque yesterday said that the GP had been delaying the payment of its dues to the telecom regulator. “They moved the High Court. We followed suit. Chief Justice (CJ) Syed Mahmud Hossain yesterday expressed serious concern over the increasing backlog of cases at the apex court, saying the situation has reached a critical stage. “So many cases are now pending in the Supreme Court (SC) that there isn't enough room to keep the files. Police yesterday said the driver of UberMOTO ferrying Brac University student Fahmida Haque Labannya (21) had used fake identities and information to register with Uber.
