Dhaka University's Vice Chancellor Md Akhtaruzzaman today ruled out the possiblity of holding re-election to its Central Students’ Union.
The development came when newly-elected Vice President of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) Nurul Haque Nur demanded re-election to all posts by March 31.
“I can’t show disrespect to the time and efforts the DU teachers and staffs spent to make Ducsu election a success. I have no right to show disrespect to their efforts,” he said.
The DU VC was talking to the reporters when coming out of his office at the campus this noon.
The DU authorities will not tolerate if anyone tries to hamper the peaceful environment and create anarchy in the campus, he added.
Earlier in the day, five panels of different political parties submitted a memorandum to the VC demanding re-election to the Ducsu.
WHAT HAPPENED IN DUCSU ELECTION?
The 28-year-long wait to Ducsu election was marred in election boycott of all the major panels over allegations of irregularities and vote rigging.
